Trifecta Technologies Case Study

Teleatrics.com

Tel-e-Atrics SiteTel-e-Atrics, a program conceived by physicians, connects doctors, nurses and other members of the healthcare team with their patients wherever they may be -- school, childcare, workplace, camps, recreational facilities, home, medical office, or hospital.

Using high quality videoconferencing, digital medical cameras, and other diagnostic equipment, medical evaluations for a broad range of problems can be completed and implications discussed face-to-face, while providers and patients remain many miles apart.

Business Challenge
Tel-e-Atrics’ telemedicine program concept needed the technical expertise to design, build and implement a solution to turn the concept into reality.  The necessary skills encompassed a wide range of computer hardware, software, networking and programming experience as well as technical savvy that would allow for a short learning curve related to medical devices associated with the system.  Trifecta was chosen as a firm that could deliver in all of these areas.

Trifecta's Solution

  • Trifecta, in accordance with its proven methodology, began the project with a series of requirements-gathering sessions including members of the Tel-e-Atrics team as well as health care professionals in order to gain a complete and accurate understanding of the specific business needs as well as technical needs of the system to be produced.
  • Simultaneous with the creation, editing and publishing of a functional specification document which clearly illustrated and described the system as articulated during the requirements-gathering sessions, Trifecta researched computer hardware and networking equipment that would best serve the system.  A hardware business local to the Tel-e-Atrics office was also researched and selected by Trifecta on behalf of Tel-e-Atrics to serve specific equipment purchasing needs.
  • With the hardware and networking issues planned out, and functional documentation in place, Trifecta then designed the system, using IBM’s WebSphere Application Server and DB2 database.  The system was designed to be both scalable and upgradeable to support new technologies in the health care industry as well as those in the computer industry.
  • Trifecta also provided a plan for ongoing maintenance and support for the high-availability needs of this kind of system, and continues to the present to provide these services to Tel-e-Atrics.
  • With all of these important ground-level foundation pieces in place, Trifecta systems engineers built the system, which functions precisely as it was envisioned, connecting doctors, nurses and other members of health care teams to patients, wherever they may be.

Impact
Leveraging the successful implementation carried out in the Western New York Medical community, Tel-e-Atrics has expanded the sales and support of its unique telemedicine products throughout North America.
