Burt's Bees is a leader in "Earth Friendly, Natural Personal Care products." Burt's Bees creates natural, Earth-friendly personal care products formulated to help people maximize their well-being and that of the world around us. The company was founded in 1984.
The Problem:
Burt's Bees approached Trifecta with a desire to increase self-servicing for their business customers. In addition, they wanted help to achieve a greater degree of self-sufficiency with their website, as well as have greater control and flexibility to display promotions and specials to site visitors. Finally, Burt's Bees wanted assistance to ensure this functionality was integrated with their existing back-end systems.
The Solution:
Trifecta upgraded Burt's Bees to a recent version of WebSphere Commerce and implemented a number of key features, including the following:
- Content management: This allowed Burt's Bees staff to add and change content on the site without assistance from a technology partner, achieving greater self sufficiency.
- E-marketing spots: Burt's Bees is also now able to display very dynamic and personalized offers to customers, using the customer segmentation and e-marketing capabilities of WebSphere Commerce.
- Self-servicing: Trifecta created a number of key components that improved the user's experience purchasing Burt's Bees products, including:
- "Quick Orders" that allowed users to pre-define products for fast purchase
- A web 2.0 interactive planogram that allows retail customers to drag products from a catalog onto an interactive shelf, visually allowing them to organize the shelf and automatically create the order.
- The ability for sales representatives to order products on their clients' behalf
Trifecta achieved these goals while maintaining a single, integrated platform for Burt's Bees B2B and B2C storefronts.
The Result:
Burt's Bees saw their 1000th order on the new B2B site by the target date they had set to receive their 500th order, doubling their objective. The company also saw a 162 percent increase in return visitors. In addition, Burt's Bees won a WebSphere "Innovation Award" for the interactive planogram component.
