Victaulic is the world's leading manufacturer of pipe joining systems. For over 80 years, Victaulic has developed a range of products to serve the commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors.
The Problem:
It's not easy to remain the industry leader. Not resting on their laurels Victaulic management identified a number of business enhancements that would help solidify their leadership position. The enhancements revolved around making it easier for the client to do business them. Some of these enhancements included:
- Enabling distributors to self-manage their own users, giving them access to real-time pricing and product availability
- Connecting a web quote application with existing legacy systems, and providing access to the quote and order status on-line
- Improving the customer's experience in managing shipping options
The Solution:
Trifecta developed several key applications for Victaulic, including:
- A registration tool that enabled distributors to manage users
- A rules engine to configure customer shipping options
- An item management application
These custom applications were deployed to IBM's WebSphere Application Server, and were integrated with WebSphere Commerce, Victaulic eCommerce engine. The entire commerce solution was integrated into the customer's IT platform, including WebSphere Portal, Tivoli for security management, and existing back-end billing applications.
The Result:
The integrated solution for Victaulic offered a number of key advantages, including:
- A global B2B eCommerce solution supporting multiple countries, languages and currencies
- A single sign-on application to all systems making access seamless to the end user
- The ability to add customer-specific features, such as unique micro sites and contract models that greatly enhances Victaulic's clients' experience, fulfilling the goal to make it easier to do business with them.
