The Story

Background:

City Center Allentown is part of a visionary real estate development company. Launched in 2011, the firm is led by individuals whose experience spans lifestyle communities, garden apartments, urban spaces, and historic high rises. The firm has invested more than $800 million in downtown Allentown, developed more than 3 million square feet of mixed-use (live/work) space, and brought more than 5,000 jobs into the city.

Challenge:

City Center engaged Trifecta Technologies to overhaul their Gold Card program. Gold Card was originally designed as a discount program exclusive to City Center residents. However, the physical cards had no personal ID to associate the card with its owner. Therefore, participating merchants were automatically applying discounts without verifying residency or Gold Card membership. City Center approached Trifecta's custom development team to develop an app that would provide value to residents.

Solution:

The Trifecta team developed a hybrid mobile and web application to achieve the desired result. The web app utilizes HTML/CSS/JavaScript frontend and Java backend with Amazon Web Services (AWS) deployment.

The Results

Results:

The new Gold Card app has solved the issue of allowing merchants to properly identify City Center residents, creating an actual benefit for those who rent and lease City Center properties. It has increased the visibility of participating businesses by allowing them to self register, update their information and promotions, and advertise upcoming events. The app also created increased communications between City Center and its residents, by allowing landlords to notify residents of outages, repairs, and security, and allowing residents to contact their landlords about emergencies or concerns.
