The Story

Background:

Starwood Hotels is a subsidiary of Marriott International. Starwood was founded in 1969 and was one of the largest companies that owned, operated, franchised, and managed hotels, resorts, spas, residences, and vacation-ownership properties in the world. Starwood’s brands included the Westin, Sheraton, Luxury Collection, Four Points, W Hotels, St. Regis, Le Meridien, Aloft, Element, Tribute Portfolio, and Design Hotels. Starwood was acquired by Marriott in 2016.

Challenge:

Starwood’s existing website design was nearly a decade old and showing its age (pictured at right). The existing site was difficult to navigate, the technology was not properly supported, and the aesthetics looked dated. Across Starwood’s 10+ hotel brands, none of their sites had a consistent look or user experience. Trifecta’s team worked closely with Starwood to create a unique yet unified website design for each hotel brand.

Starwood’s website users experienced vastly improved navigation on tablets, as well as a more appealing modern look with greater legibility. Now, Starwood has a standard and consistent design for all of their hotel brands.
