As with every release, there are a lot of new features and updates that we can all get excited about. But it can be a bit overwhelming trying to read through those release notes, so we’ve compiled a short list to help get you up to speed with the latest release. Our list includes one of our favorite features for each cloud (Sales, Service, Marketing, etc.), totaling nine awesome features that you and your company can benefit from.
Some features in Winter ’17 affect all users immediately after the release goes live. Consider communicating these changes to your users beforehand so that they’re prepared. Other features require direct action by an administrator before users can benefit from the new functionality.

Instagram Social Customer Service
Deliver a personalized service experience on the channels your customers prefer – now including Instagram. Connect your Instagram account directly to Service Cloud to engage directly with customers. Empower agents to track conversations about your brand, and stay productive by responding directly to customers without leaving the console.
Marketing Cloud Mobile App Email Sends
Marketing Cloud Mobile App customers can now send Content Builder emails and status-approved emails from their iPhone or iPad. This new feature uses a mobile-optimized send flow that enables customers to select an existing email, edit the parameters, and send directly from the app.
Apache Kafka on Heroku
Apache Kafaka on Heroku, a streaming data service optimized for developers, provides the foundation for a new generation of intelligent apps. It allows App Cloud developers to capitalize on millions of transactions or billions of events to deliver an engaging customer experience. Apache Kafka on Heroku is built for social, mobile, and IoT speed and scale of streaming data that is highly performant for real-time use cases.
Wave Dashboard Designer
Users can now easily create beautiful, customizable Wave dashboards. Any user can surface complex, analytical insights and embed smart alerts across every dashboard widget to stay up to date on their most important business metrics via instant email and push notifications. Now, building Wave charts, tables, and filters is easier than ever.
Lightning Partner Communities
Easily launch a Lightning Partner Community to give partners the tools they need to sell faster with Community Templates. Drag and drop dashboards and reports into the community to give partners a 360-degree view of their business. Help partners accelerate sales by guiding them through your sales process with a customizable sales path.
Lightning Client and Household Profiles
Every financial services firm runs its business differently. With Lightning App Builder, you can now customize your client and household views with drag and drop configuration. Highlight the exact information that your advisors need to drive stronger client relationships and ensure seamless data integration with an enhanced API.
Care Plan Templates
Simplify care team workflows by starting with care plan templates. Create or purchase templates from leading content providers that can be customized and applied to patients. Goals, problems, and tasks can be automatically generated, so you can easily guide patients along their care journey.
Support for Custom Objects
For customers who have customized Sales Cloud, now it’s easy to access custom objects from your inbox, allowing you to log emails, get CRM context, and update data with fewer clicks.
